hülsta solid receives Red Dot Award: Cross-leg table convinces expert jury
Stadtlohn, 25th March 2019 – hülsta has yet again scooped up the well-known “Red Dot Award“. The cross-leg table designed by Martin Ballendat from the hülsta solid collection won the category “Product Design”.
The Red Dot Award “Product Design” is one of the largest design competitions worldwide. In 2019, designers and manufacturers from 55 nations with more than 5,500 products applied for the award. The international jury, consisting of experienced experts from different areas, has been getting together for more than 60 years in order to decide upon the best designs. During an evaluation process lasting several days, they test the products, discuss them and finally make a well-founded judgement regarding the design quality of the entries. In line with the motto “In search of good design and innovation” they focus on criteria such as degree of innovation, functionality, formal quality, durability and ergonomics.
The design of the cross-leg table in combination with sophisticated craftsmanship and natural materials completely convinced the experts. A characteristic feature of the dining table from the hülsta solid product collection is the vibrant mix of natural materials that provide a stunning contrast both in terms of colour and design. Steel is used to create slim cross sections that have a particularly elegant impact in combination with the precious solid oak or walnut. The table top made from stained glass give the table its light-hearted look.
Designer Martin Ballendat, who created the entire hülsta solid collection, explains his style:
“I generally believe that good design consists of two opposite poles. Opposites such as male and female, technically innovative and creatively emotional. This interplay of both worlds is something that has always intrigued me and has always been the basis for my products.”
